The head of the General Authority for Water Resources and Facilities, Engineer Hadi Quraia, was briefed today on the progress of work in the final phase of the Martyr Dr. Radwan Al-Rubai barrier project to harvest rainwater and floods in the Al-Alib area in the Jahran District of Dhamar Governorate.
During the visit, along with the Authority’s advisor, Dr. Amer Al-Sabri, and the Director of the Works Office in Dhamar, Engineer Moaz Al-Shawkani, Engineer Quraia confirmed that the implementation of the project comes within the framework of the Dhamar Water Basin, under the supervision of the Authority’s presidency, in coordination with the local authority, and with funding from the Authority’s branch in Dhamar.
He explained that the implementation of the barrier projects translates the directives of the leader of the revolution, Mr. Abdul-Malik Badr Al-Houthi, the directives of the political leadership, and the interest of the leadership of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources.
Engineer Quraiah appreciated the role of Dhamar Governor Muhammad Al-Bukhaiti in implementing the project and his contribution to the success of water resources activities in the governorate, which contributes to the development and preservation of water sources.
He also stressed that the project will recharge groundwater on the one hand, and contribute to reducing flood disasters and torrents that threaten the city of Maabar on the other hand.
While the Director of the Dhamar Governorate Branch, Engineer Haitham Alwan, pointed out that the area is a meeting place for rain torrents from several areas to collect and could be one of the most important harvesting projects according to its engineering study.
In turn, the Authority’s advisor – Chairman of the Supervisory Committee of the project, Dr. Nabil Al-Areq, provided a detailed explanation about the progress of work in the project through conducting the survey and construction work, in which the completion rate reached 90 percent.
He was accompanied by a number of engineers and specialists from the authority.
