As it was announced, during the search of the Faculty of Philosophy on March 27, 2026, the documentation of the plenum of several faculties was temporarily confiscated, in which the minutes of the meeting of the organization “Students in Blockade” – the umbrella working group for security, held on January 22, 2025, were found.
According to the prosecution, at that meeting, among other things, the “sound cannon” was discussed, and the minutes recorded claims that the use of such a device would cause a “massive response from Brussels”, as well as a reference to the practice in China of people moving off the road when they see a “sound cannon”, reports RTS.
Doubts about the March 15 protest
VJT states that there are grounds for suspicion that the participants of that meeting and other unknown persons in the following period undertook activities with the aim of simulating the use of a “sound cannon” by state authorities at the protest in Belgrade on March 15, 2025.
According to the statement, it is suspected that the goal of such actions was to accuse the state authorities in the domestic and international public of using this means, in order to cause fear and panic among citizens, riots and endangering the security of the state.
Ordered collection of notices
The Prosecutor’s Office sent a request to the Directorate of Criminal Police – Anti-Terrorism Service to collect the necessary information in order to determine whether the actions of the persons who participated in the aforementioned meeting contained elements of the criminal offense of calling for a violent change of the constitutional order or some other criminal offense for which they are prosecuted ex officio.
The police were ordered to identify the participants of the meeting held on January 22, 2025 and to hold discussions with them about the topics that were the subject of discussion, including the allegations of the “sound cannon” and the possible consequences of its use.
Checking the organization of protests and public claims
As it is added, it is also necessary to determine who participated in the implementation, as stated, of the adopted proposal to simulate the use of a “sound cannon” at the protest in Slavia on March 15, 2025, how the roles were divided, who made decisions in the organization and why the guards’ vests were removed during the rally.
The Prosecutor’s Office also ordered interviews with all persons who publicly claimed that a “sound cannon” was used against the participants of the protest, in order to determine on the basis of which knowledge they made such allegations and whether they had specific information that would support them.
In addition, it is necessary to determine who is the organizer of the medical examinations of the protest participants due to the alleged consequences of the “sound cannon”.
Also, the Higher Public Prosecutor’s Office in Belgrade requested the First Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office in Belgrade to provide it with the files of the case established by that prosecutor’s office regarding the alleged use of a “sound cannon”.
