Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim arrived in Ashgabat on an official visit. He was met at the capital’s International Airport by officials. An honor guard lined the carpet, the State News Agency of Turkmenistan reports.
Turkmenistan and Malaysia plan to hold high-level talks, which are expected to result in a number of agreements. The parties intend to expand cooperation in the oil and gas sector, transport and logistics, high technology, and agriculture. Particular attention will be paid to cultural and humanitarian ties, including collaboration in science and education.
The Malaysian company Petronas has been operating in Turkmenistan for many years. The experience gained through joint operations in the Caspian Sea provides a foundation for expanding cooperation in the areas of deep hydrocarbon processing, petrochemicals, and the implementation of environmentally friendly technologies.
The official visit of Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov to Malaysia in 2024 marked a significant milestone in the development of bilateral relations. The countries also regularly support each other’s initiatives within the UN.
