    Tegucigalpa, Honduras.

    The Technical Criminal Investigation Agency ( Attic ), in coordination with the Public Ministry, carried out this Tuesday the seizure of documentation at the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transportation ( sit ), as part of an investigation into alleged irregularities in the construction of three public hospitals in Ocotepeque, Olancho and Santa Bárbara.

    The proceedings are carried out under the direction of the Special Prosecutor’s Office for Transparency and Combating Public Corruption, in the midst of a process that indicates the hiring proceduresexecution of works and purchase of supplies in hospital projects from previous administrations.

    Jorge Galindo, spokesperson for the ATIC, explained that the actions aim to collect more elements and indications to strengthen the ongoing investigation into the infrastructure execution health in different regions of the country.

    What is the profile of the new interim directors of the CNE?

    “It is an action directed by the Special Prosecutor’s Office for Transparency and Combating Public Corruption and the Technical Criminal Investigation Agency, in the sense of having more information and elements around the construction of public hospitals in the country,” said Galindo.

    The official explained that The hospital centers under investigation correspond to projects in the departments of Olancho, Ocotepeque and the general hospital of Santa Bárbarapointing out that the required documentation had not yet been delivered to the Public Ministry.

    As explained, the seizure of documents and the collection of information is carried out with judicial authorization, which allows formal access to files and other inputs necessary for the advancement of the case.

    “These actions are being carried out with jurisdictional control, that is, with the approval of a competent judge, and the seizure of documents and request for information will be carried out to have more elements,” said the spokesperson.

    Galindo added that, in addition to the collection of physical files, access to electronic devices within the Secretariat is not ruled out, if so determined by the investigative line of the Public Ministry.

    He also indicated that the proceedings are carried out in different departments and units of the SIT, where information related to the planning, contracting and execution of public works is handled.

    “In each of these departments, different processes and documentation are carried out that could be of interest to the Public Ministry, which will be analyzed to determine if there were irregularities,” he pointed out.

    The spokesperson assured that, so far, the actions have not encountered obstacles and that the investigation continues gradually, with the aim of clarifying possible anomalies in the execution of hospital projects.
