Monaco has introduced a new online service on MonGuichet.mc allowing residents to declare recreational shore fishing activity without needing to visit a government office in person.
The mandatory declaration requirement was introduced in 2025 as part of efforts to support the growth of recreational fishing in the Principality and to better understand who is practising the activity. Valid for three years, the declaration allows both adult and child anglers to fish from the shore within a regulated framework. It also gives the administration contact details for practitioners, enabling it to notify them of any regulatory changes, while building a clearer picture of fishing activity in the Principality to support monitoring efforts and the protection of the marine environment.
Uptake has been strong since the scheme launched, with 614 declarations recorded in 2025 and a further 190 already registered since the start of 2026.
Responding to requests from users who wanted to complete the process without travelling in person, the government has now made the entire declaration procedure available online, removing the need for paper forms or in-person visits. The new service can be accessed at teleservice.gouv.mc/declaration-peche/.
The initiative was developed jointly by the Digital Services Department and the Maritime Affairs Department, and forms part of the broader Extended Monaco programme aimed at simplifying administrative procedures and modernising public services.
