In the Kirovohrad region, a local farmer could exploit and torture a 20-year-old boy for years.

The young man was probably subjected to sexual violence, ate dry cake and grain, and instead of regular hygiene, he was washed with water from a hydrant under pressure, claims activist and former combat medic Maksym Kanevskyi, who publicizes the situation.

Currently, the injured boy is in the hospital, and law enforcement officers have detained the alleged offender.

The story of Vasyl, whose mother and underage sister may also have been in slavery before, told local publication “Grechka”.

They were electrocuted and fed grain: what is known about the story of 20-year-old Vasyl

Maksym Kanevskyi told reporters that he learned about the case from reliable sources after Vasyl was released.

According to the veteran, the 20-year-old boy was held in labor and sexual slavery by one of the farmers from the village of Dibrivka for about three years.

Earlier, the young man’s underage sister and his mother were also held there, but they managed to escape.

On the farm, Vasyl lived in difficult conditions – he was fed dry cake and grain, and instead of regular hygiene procedures, once a month he was washed with water under high pressure from a hydrant.

The activist says that local residents knew about the situation, but were afraid to report it due to the intimidation of “local thugs”.

“He was tortured, mutilated, raped. His leg was broken with a stick, and before it had time to heal, it was broken again in the same place. We do not know whether it will be possible to save the limb or whether it will have to be amputated.

The boy is toothless, beaten, and covered in scars. He was electrocuted through an electronic collar, kept “on the remote control”” – Maksym said with reference to the words of Vasyl and eyewitnesses.

Once, an acquaintance of the boy, along with others who cared, waited until there were no supervisors near Vasyl. The young man was found beaten in a manure pit – a place for storing manure.

The boy managed to be taken to another village, where he was first given first aid, and later taken to the hospital. At the same time, the police learned about the incident and opened criminal proceedings for minor injuries.

Local residents claim that the investigation did not move forward, so they returned to Maxim for help. He says he also saw videos of the boy being tortured.

“The people who held him recorded on video what they did to him and what they forced him to do”– explained the former combat medic.

On March 31, the young man was transferred to the regional hospital. They also found a lawyer for the injured boy.

“We bought him a phone so he could be in touch. We brought him clothes and food. The doctors have to conduct an examination and various tests to understand whether to leave him in the regional hospital or transfer him to some other place.”the veteran shared.

On April 1, residents of Kirovohrad Oblast gathered for a rally near the police station in Bobrynka. Outraged people demanded the arrest of three men, probably involved in torturing Vasyl.

“What are the physical injuries? If a guy has a fractured skull, a broken leg in two places, broken fingers on both hands? He can’t walk”– exclaimed Nataliya Goretska, who previously worked as the head of the children’s service and remembers Vasyl and his family.

According to the protesters, the alleged perpetrators intimidate and threaten other residents, and the local police allegedly knew about the crime, and now they are trying to “shut up” everything.

“The victim clearly states that before any checks were supposed to arrive, the local police called (alleged perpetrators) and said that there was going to be a raid. The policemen of our community who were supposed to control it.

The child was in slavery for three years, in sexual, psychological, and physical slavery, he was tortured, very terrible things were done to him. And everyone knew everything. We arrived, took half a boar and left – all actions”– Maksym Kanevskyi said.

    How is the investigation progressing?

In a comment to “UP. Life”, the press service of the National Police confirmed that law enforcement officers of the Kirovohrad region are investigating the case.

On March 22, according to a statement about a beating from a boy, the police were called opened criminal proceedings under Part 1 of Article 125 of the Criminal Code – intentional slight bodily injury.

The law enforcement officers say that they later received materials about the possible detention of the young man and the assignment of physical violence to him. Therefore, the police also investigate illegal deprivation of liberty or kidnapping – part 2 of Article 146 of the Criminal Code.

The editors reported that the law enforcement officers are still waiting for the results of the victim’s medical examination, which must be provided by the doctors.

At the same time, the police delayed a local resident who is suspected of restricting Vasyl’s will. He turned out to be a local resident born in 1987 who voluntarily left the place of military service.

“The maximum punishment that can threaten a man is up to ten years of imprisonment”– said the head of the regional police Andrii Dubrova.

The case is being investigated by the investigators of the Main Department of the National Police of the Kirovohrad region and the specialized prosecutor’s office.

In a comment for Grechka, the Kirovohrad Regional Prosecutor’s Office reported that the case is also being handled by the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office in the Defense Sector of the Southern Region.
