The Ministry of Public Health explained that, with reference to what was circulated regarding suspected cases of food poisoning in a restaurant, it dealt directly with a number of reports in this regard, and took immediate precautionary measures, which included closing the restaurant suspected of causing these cases, as of last Sunday, for a period of 15 days.
The Ministry also withdrew samples of food and conducted the necessary laboratory examinations and analyses, in addition to completing the health assessment of the restaurant’s workers. Investigation work continues, following up on the results of laboratory tests for food samples and workers, completing all relevant health procedures, analyzing the results, and taking the necessary measures based on them, in a way that ensures the highest standards of food safety are maintained and the protection of public health is maintained.
The Ministry affirms its commitment to the legal controls established regarding the announcement of violating food establishments, which stipulate that the names of the establishments should not be published except after the violation has been conclusively proven and final decisions have been issued regarding it, while the measures taken in the suspicion stage remain precautionary measures aimed primarily at ensuring public safety.
The Ministry of Public Health called on community members to ensure accuracy and not circulate information except through approved official sources.
