“We presented the facts of large-scale election violations to the CEC, the CP did not win these elections, the results should be declared invalid”

“Strong Armenia” alliance submitted an application to the Central Electoral Commission today: June 7 election results regarding invalidation. The application was submitted to the CEC by Aram Vardevanyan, a candidate for the deputy of the “Strong Armenia” bloc, and lawyer Aram Vardevanyan.

He said that the KP did not win in the elections held on June 7, the RA citizens did not give the KP the vote of confidence that they imagined.

In a conversation with journalists, Aram Vardevanyan said: “Within the framework of the application, we presented the large-scale election violations that took place before the voting, as well as on the day of the voting. We especially emphasized all the repressive actions that took place: abuse of administrative resources, hate speech as well.”

Aram Vardevanyan said that before this, several applications were submitted to the CEC, both regarding hate speech and abuse of administrative resources. “Regarding them, you received the inaction of the CEC on the one hand, and the refusal on the other hand. All of them were appealed to the Administrative Court, and we also have the decisions of the Administrative Court, with which these problems are recorded,” he said.

Aram Vardevanyan raised the question of the need for re-voting in the polling stations where the voting results were declared invalid. According to him, during the discussion of the application to declare the election results invalid, the Central Election Commission is also obliged to refer to the circumstance of re-voting. “We have submitted this within the framework of the application submitted by us. The grounds for re-voting are very clear: if the results of invalid polling stations affect the election results, then re-voting is mandatory. CEC is obliged to organize the mentioned. Among the grounds for invalidating the election results presented by us is also a very important circumstance: the votes of 100,000 of our compatriots who participated in the elections were not formed as a result of the proper work of the passport, but were filled in by a specialist,” said Vardevanyan.

He noted that even It was recorded by the OSCE ODIHR, that there were cases of misuse of administrative resources, differentiated approach and repressive criminal prosecutions. “With all this, it is simply not possible to come to any other conclusion than that the results of these elections should be recognized as invalid,” said Vardevanyan.

Aram Vardevanyan responded to the statements of CP members that the recorded violations did not affect the election results. “I think that any official representative has no other option than to express such an opinion, because their only obsession is to stay in power. But the RA citizens expressed their position, CP did not win these elections. Our position is as follows: the data published by the “Civil Agreement” party, according to the figures published by the CEC, do not correspond to reality.”

Vardevanyan also added that they will implement all measures against failure, one of them was implemented today. He also said that in the two polling stations where the voting results were declared invalid, the “Strong Armenia” alliance received more than 500 votes. “We will be consistent with each of our votes. If we see that some new illegality is being developed in connection with the re-voting, we also have certain legal tools in that regard,” he added.

    Details in the video

Referring to the street struggle and the question of whether they believe that it is possible to achieve success through legal means, Aram Vardevanyan said that, of course, there is a legal “bezpredel” in the country. “Would any legal action against it not be effective? It is more likely that this is a correct prediction. Does this mean that it should not be done? No, it should be implemented. I don’t think it will be enough to do it alone. The fact that the electoral process is always a legal and political process, and in that sense simply relying on the legal process cannot be effective, I think it is a really relevant observation. I think it is more reasonable that there should also be a parallel political process. And I think that today you will also have the opportunity to listen to the position of the leader of the “Strong Armenia” parties, Samvel Karapetyan.”
