TPG 3: a modern, precision sniper rifle
A sniper from the Hungarian Defense Forces Special Operations Command took first place at the T-Class Tactical Sniper National Cup 2026 international sniper competition held in Bulgaria, reported honvedelem.hu.
At the competition held at the Nikolaevo military training and firing range in late May, two snipers from the Special Operations Command represented the Hungarian Defense Forces. Among competitors from numerous countries around the world, Staff Sergeant P. N. F. finished in first place, while Master Sergeant L. D. also placed highly among the nearly 50 participants. In recognition of their outstanding performance, both were invited to the pairs sniper competition to be held this fall.

The T-Class is one of the world’s best-known sniper competition systems, simulating real battlefield conditions, where participants must demonstrate not only their marksmanship skills but also their physical endurance and tactical preparedness.
In the T-Class system, the Tactical Sniper event corresponds to the classic sniper competition. During this competition, participants performed tasks under challenging conditions that can only be replicated to a limited extent in the domestic Hungarian environment. They had to carry out complex shooting tasks across varied terrain and in challenging wind conditions.
Throughout the entire competition, participants were under intense physical and mental strain, which was further exacerbated by strict time limits and complex task sequences.
The results achieved clearly demonstrate the high level of professional preparedness and outstanding capabilities of the personnel of the Hungarian Defense Forces Special Operations Command, even on an international level.

The TPG 3 is a modern, precision sniper rifle developed by the German company Unique Alpine AG. Typical of sniper rifles, the weapon features a rotating bolt action and is manufactured in several calibers: .338 Lapua Magnum, .300 Winchester Magnum, and .308 Winchester. In the case of the TPG-3, features such as weight reduction and consistent repeat accuracy following a barrel change have also been implemented.
