Bulgarian Prime Minister Rumen Radev announced at the June 17 meeting of the Council of Ministers that from now on all ministries, agencies and local governments should be aware that the Integrated Citizen Monitoring and Analysis System (SIGMA) will be rapidly expanded to automatically check related parties, preferred companies and inflated prices in public procurement procedures. “Armenpress”This is reported by the Bulgarian News Agency (BTA).
The SIGMA platform was presented on June 16. It is a public instrument designed to increase the transparency of public procurement. Its scope covers the years 2020 to 2026 and includes 193,000 contracts and procurement batches with a total contract value of more than €51 billion. The entrance to the platform is completely open.
According to Radev, SIGMA is a powerful tool for public control of government spending.
“Our goal is to put an end to the practice of scandalous public purchases and hidden intra-departmental transfers, which cause significant damage to the budget,” he said.
According to him, the system is available on the website of the Ministry of Innovation and Digital Transformation.
The Prime Minister clarified that every citizen can quickly and easily find out how much money was spent in his community or in the given ministry, what it was spent on, and which companies received the funds and under what conditions.
