The National Team’s preparation for its debut in the World Championship suffered a setback this Sunday due to adverse weather conditions in the United States. The threat of a storm forced the cancellation of the initially scheduled training sessionleading the quinas team to comply with the safety protocols defined by local authorities.
The Portuguese delegation had already arrived at the Gardens North County District Park when it was necessary to interrupt established plans and retreat to a safe location. The decision was taken as a precaution in view of the worsening weather conditions.marked by intense rain and risk of thunderstorms.
Despite the unforeseen circumstances, preparation work was not completely suspended. Players performed a physical activation session indoorsfollowing a previously outlined plan for emergency scenarios, in order to maintain the team’s physical performance.
The change in weather conditions also forced a change in the planned calendar. The team’s training session has been rescheduled for this Monday, at 10:30 amwhile the press conference with a Portuguese player is scheduled for 9:45 am (Portuguese time).
Portugal thus continues to fine-tune its preparation for its World Cup debut, scheduled for Wednesday, June 17, against the Democratic Republic of Congo, in Houston. The team led by Roberto Martínez seeks to reach the first match of the competition in the best conditionsdespite the constraints caused by bad weather.
