Hospitals will be able to hire doctors who provide services that they already work with, but they can only do so if they have budget availability and if these workers work at least 36 hours a week in the same service or SNS establishment. The rule, set out in the decree-law that regulates the hiring regime for medical service providers, published this Tuesday in Republic Gazetteis a “huge” limitation to the establishment of these professionals in the SNS, criticizes the Medical Association. For the National Federation of Doctors (FNAM), the diploma will accelerate the departure of doctors from the SNS and the biggest losers will be users. The association that represents doctors who work hourly also warns that the restrictions imposed by decree may have “the opposite effect” and highlights the lack of concern on the part of the guardianship to guarantee critical shifts, such as weekends and festive seasons.
