“Deep concern over foreign interference, hybrid threats and disinformation campaigns, political instrumentalization of religious institutions, pressure on the judiciary and the media, threats to the independence of institutions, as well as the relativization of war crimes, are not topics that appeared overnight. These are topics that are a consequence of the policies and actions of subjects and individuals who today make up the parliamentary majority, together with their political satellites,” he states.
As he points out, precisely because of the awareness of these challenges, the opposition offered through the platform concrete solutions aimed at strengthening the European agenda, protecting institutional independence, suppressing foreign and hybrid influences, improving the rule of law and preserving the civil character of the state.
“That is why it is particularly important to point out that, reading the report of the European Parliament and the Platform of the opposition, one can see an almost complete coincidence in the understanding of the key problems facing Montenegro. While the European Parliament accurately diagnoses the causes and consequences of the current situation, the Platform of the opposition offers a series of concrete measures that represent the answer to most of the identified challenges,” said Đuričković.
This, he believes, confirms that the European and democratic forces in Montenegro not only recognize the problems, but also have a clear vision of how to solve them.
“That is why it is more important today than ever to gather all social and political actors who sincerely believe in the European future of Montenegro and who are ready to oppose policies that move the country away from European standards and values. The report of the European Parliament is not a criticism of Montenegro. It is a criticism of wrong policies that produce institutional weakness, division and distance from the European path. It is up to us to choose whether we will ignore these messages or turn them into incentives for reforms that will keep Montenegro on the path to full membership in the European Union,” concluded Đuričković.
