    NEW Missing person sunk with sailboat?

    Captain of the Split Port Authority Željko Kušterawho was among the first to arrive at the scene of the serious maritime accident in Splitski vrata, in an interview with HTV’s central Dnevnik, presented new details of the investigation and search for the missing person.

    – Today, using the drone of the Croatian Navy, we located where the sailboat sank. According to one of the passengers who was on the sailboat, one person was inside the sailboat, so we assume that it sank together with her – Kuštera said.

    Plenković expressed his condolences

    Prime Minister of the Republic of Croatia Andrej Plenković on Sunday, he expressed his sincere condolences to the families of three Czech citizens who died in the collision between a sailing boat and a catamaran near Split Gate, and he also sent his condolences to the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic Andrej Babis.

    “On the occasion of the serious maritime accident due to the collision between a sailboat and a catamaran near the Split Gate, in which three Czech citizens were killed, I express my sincere condolences to their families and Prime Minister Andrej Babiš,” wrote the Prime Minister of the Republic of Croatia Andrej Plenković on X.

    He pointed out that all competent services reacted quickly and carried out an operation to rescue the passengers from the sailboat, while the intensive search for one person is still continuing.

    “We wish a speedy recovery to all the injured who are receiving medical care,” said Plenković.


    The catamaran arrived in Milna

    As Jutarnji unofficially learns, the catamaran arrived in Milna on Brač.


    Port Authority about the accident

    – This sailboat had proper papers, there were seven passengers and a skipper on board. There were 118 passengers and seven crew members on the second ship, the port captain from Split said at the beginning of the press conference. Željko Kuštera.

    When asked how this happened, Kuštera added that in “35 years of his career, he has not seen this yet”:

    – I would praise all the actors who quickly came to help, but unfortunately this was a terrible tragedy, Kuštera said.


    The injured are not life-threatening

    Four people were brought from the maritime accident to the OHBP of KBC Split. They are middle-aged Czech citizens. Medical treatment is in progress, but everyone is out of danger.


    The passengers on the sailboat are Czech citizens

    According to unofficial information, all persons on the sailboat are citizens of the Czech Republic. As we have learned, the catamaran with passengers is still in the Brač channel and the ship is being inspected to determine if the ship is ready to continue sailing towards Milna on the island of Brač.

    If the ship is not seaworthy, towing to Milna will be organized.


    New details

    “The National Center for Coordination of Search and Rescue at Sea in Rijeka (MRCC Rijeka) reported to the Ministry of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure about the progress of the coordinated search and rescue operation for several persons who died in a serious maritime accident in the area of ​​the Port of Split.

    A report of a collision between two vessels was received at Split Port Authority today, June 14 at 11:34 a.m., and the information was immediately forwarded to MRCC Rijeka, from where a coordinated search and rescue operation was launched with all available resources.

    Based on available information, shortly before 11:30 a.m. near the Split Gate, a passenger ship owned by a private domestic company and a sailboat of the French flag collided, which then sank.

    At the time of the accident, there were 118 passengers and seven crew members on the passenger ship, while there were eight people on the sailboat, three of whom, unfortunately, died, while one person is still being searched for.

    The remaining four people from the sunken sailboat were pulled from the sea.

    All available rescue boats from the Split Captaincy and associated branches were engaged in the surface search, along with the engagement of police vessels from the Split Maritime and Airport Police, the Emergency Medical Service, including the helicopter unit, and all other services specialized in dealing with extraordinary events at sea and on land, whose activities are coordinated from MRCC Rijeka,” reads the statement of the Ministry of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure.


    Three people died

    Three people were killed in a maritime accident that happened at around 11:38 a.m. today in the waters between the islands of Solta and Brač, and one person is still being searched for. The other passengers from the sailing boat (four people) were provided medical assistance by emergency medical personnel at the scene and there was no need to take them to the hospital – Split police reported.

    An investigation will be conducted at the scene, led by the deputy of the county state attorney’s office, with the participation of a traffic expert and with the assistance of the police.

    FIRST NEWS: An extensive search and rescue operation is underway in Splitski vrata following a maritime accident involving the sailboat and catamaran Krilo Eclipse. The accident occurred at 11:38 a.m. in the area between Milna on Brač and the island of Šolta, where a sailboat carrying several people sank after a collision.

    The Krilo Eclipse catamaran was involved in the accident.

    According to the first information from the field, there are injured people in the event, the police reported.

    Vessels of the competent services were immediately dispatched to the scene. Two ships of the Port Authority and a vessel of the Maritime Police are participating in the action, along with a large number of other ships that help in the search at sea.

    According to unofficial information, eight people have been rescued from the sea so far, while an intensive search is underway for two more people. The exact number of passengers on the sailboat and the circumstances that led to the collision are currently unknown.
