On its 15th day, the protest against the political class has taken another direction.
After staying for about two hours below the prime minister’s office and then the usual march through the streets of Tirana, they did not return to where they started, but headed to the Tirana-Durres highway.
For several hours, the highway was blocked by the march of the protesters, who did not stop there, but headed to the Rinas road in the direction of the “Mother Teresa” international airport.
In the middle of their march, around 02.00 after midnight, they were confronted by the police, Shqiponja forces and those of FNSH who had formed several cordons, also helped by large cars in blue uniforms.
The protestors sat for about 60 minutes on Rinas street, until they decided not to advance further, but to return to Tirana.
During the beginning of the protest, persons with black hoods and glasses disturbed the peace of the protesters. Tensions started when rumors spread that citizens were being asked for their identity cards to sign a petition, but the organizers said that such a thing was a provocation.
The protest continued with calls for the resignation of the Rama government and the creation of a transitional government. Even on the 15th day, citizens expressed their dissatisfaction with the political class of 35 years with ironic banners and humor, but there were also speeches on the podium erected in front of the Prime Minister’s Office.
The departure of Shkodra’s MP, Marjana Koçeku, from the parliamentary group of socialists, the protesters called their victory.
“A news has just arrived that shows how big this protest is. One of the chess pieces has just fallen, an MP has resigned from the SP. Shkodra MP Marjana Koçeku has just said she is an independent MP. The end has come. This shows us that we must stay square, they will fall one by one like dominoes”, said one of the protesters.
Residents of Durrës who oppose the TID project joined the rally today.
After the speeches, the citizens marched through the streets of the capital and then entered the Eastern Ring Road.
