The memorandum of understanding between USA and his Iran signed by Donald Trumphim Jay Dee Vance and the speaker of the Iranian parliament, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibafa senior US official said on Monday.
According to him, the signing of the memorandum is part of the framework agreement, which was announced between Washington and Tehran, while the official signing ceremony is scheduled to take place on June 19 in Switzerland.
The Straits of Hormuz will be opened by Friday
Speaking shortly after arriving in Evian, France for the G7 summit, Trump said the Strait of Hormuz would be fully open by Friday.
The US president stated that the text of the agreement will be released sometime after its official signing, which is scheduled for Friday.
He also added that Washington wants to see if it can help stabilize the situation in Lebanon. “We want to see if we can put Lebanon in order,” he said characteristically.
At the same time, referring to the agreement with Iran and the role of US allies, he noted: “I don’t think we’ll need much help, but it’s not a bad idea.”
He also made it clear that there will be no lifting of sanctions against Iran until Tehran fulfills its obligations under the deal. “There will be no lifting of sanctions on Iran until it does what it needs to do,” he said.
“Putin and Zelensky seem willing to do something about the war”
Donald Trump also said he had “good talks” on Sunday with Vladimir Putin and Volodymyr Zelensky, and that both appeared willing to take action on the war in Ukraine.
