“State work and related initiatives” would be missing, said the liberal Second President of the State Parliament, Johann Tschürtz, to the Burgenland state party chairman.

The Burgenland FPÖ state party chairman Alexander Petschnig is currently facing criticism from within its own ranks. The liberal Second President of the State Parliament Johann Tschürtz told him on Sunday about the “Crown newspaper“ Petschnig is doing a good job as a member of the National Council, “but the state work and related initiatives are missing”. The state party leader did not want to comment on this.
Tschürtz criticized that the party leadership around Petschnig had recently neglected the organizational structure, the frontline organizations and the youth area. The internal debates are likely to be precursors to the state party conference, which is coming up next October and at which elections will also be held.
Most recently, Tschürtz, who was the state party leader and club chairman in the past, was considered a possible opponent. However, he stated on Sunday that “it is not my life plan to take over the state party”. Instead, he advocated that another, new candidate could run against Petschnig in a “democratically legitimate” manner in order to give the party a breath of fresh air and “get into a spirit of optimism with vigor.” (APA)
