Supreme Court: Tomorrow, Tuesday, June 16, 2026 AD, is the first of the month of Muharram of the year 1448 AH.
The Supreme Court issued the following statement today:

Praise be to God alone, and prayers and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon all his family and companions, and after: The Crescents Chamber of the Supreme Court reviewed what it received from the courts regarding the sightings of the crescent of the month of Muharram for the year 1448 AH on the evening of Monday the twenty-ninth of the month of Dhul-Hijjah of the year 1447 AH – according to the Umm Al-Qura calendar – corresponding to 6/15/2026 AD, and after reviewing the department’s review of what was received in this regard, it issued Resolution No. (208/ E) and the date 12/29/1447 AH, which includes: confirmation of the sighting of the crescent of the month of Muharram for the year 1448 AH on the evening of the aforementioned day; Accordingly, the New Moons Chamber of the Supreme Court decided: Tuesday 1/1/1448 AH – according to the Umm Al-Qura calendar – corresponding to 6/16/2026 AD, is the beginning of the month of Muharram for the year 1448 AH.
When the Supreme Court announces this, it asks God Almighty to grant success to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and His Highness the Trustworthy Crown Prince – may God protect them – and to reward them with the best reward, and to enable Muslims to work to what pleases Him, and to unite them and unite their word. May God’s blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon all his family and companions.
