The Acting Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, has stated that the process of counting votes has not yet been completed, stressing that the final results will enable discussions on the next political steps.
“We are still waiting for the counting of votes. The votes are still coming in and being counted. With the conclusion of the counting of votes, we will be able to start talking about the next steps. You must take into account what is evident again, that the Vetëvendosje Movement is the undisputed winner together with our partners of the pre-election coalition. We will be the bearers of the establishment of the institutions of the 11th legislature”, he declared.
Kurti expressed optimism about the process of constitution of the Assembly and formation of the new Government. “I am optimistic that things will go well both in terms of the constitution of the Assembly and in terms of the formation of the Government”, he said. Speaking about the election of the new president, Kurti emphasized that this process requires cooperation with the opposition parties, due to the constitutional requirements for securing the necessary votes.
“As for the election of the president, you know that this must be done in cooperation with the opposition due to the request of a Constitutional Court judgment more than a decade ago, that 80 deputies are required to have their secret ballots in the box. We are ready, we are willing, we are interested in communication and cooperation, but this is nothing new on our part”, he added.
