    Slobodna Dalmacija – The Croatian market is progressing in car sales, the growth is constant: here are the brands most in demand on our roads


    In the first five months of this year, 34,654 new cars were sold in Croatia, which is 6.7 percent more than in the same period last year, while 9,451 were sold in May with a year-on-year growth of 10.8 percent, according to data on new registrations transmitted by the agency Promocija plus.

    Škoda sold the most new passenger vehicles in five months, 4,579. The Czech manufacturer holds a 13.2 percent share in total sales. Second is Volkswagen with sales of 4,203 cars and a share of 12.1 percent. Third and fourth place are held by Opel and Renault. Opel sold 2,809 new vehicles and has a share in total sales of 8.1 percent, while Renault sold only seven vehicles less. In fifth place is Suzuki with 2,138 cars sold and a market share of 6.1 percent.

    The best-selling model in May was the VW T-Cross. That model was sold in 774 pieces. It is followed by Opel Frontera, which was sold in 554. In third place is Škoda Octavia (488), and fourth is Renault Clio (350). In May, four Bentleys and one Aston Martin and Lamborghini were sold in Croatia.

    From the beginning of January to the end of May, the most customers chose a new vehicle with a hybrid drive, 16,156 of them, which is a share of 46.6 percent in total sales. They are followed by gas stations, with 13,087 or 37.8 percent sold. Diesels are in third place with a 10.4 percent share, or the sale of 3,592 vehicles. 1,478 fully electric vehicles were sold (4.3 percent share), and 341 gas powered vehicles (1 percent share).
