With the start of the 2026 cyclonic season, the Dominican Electric Transmission Company (ETED) activated its Institutional Contingency Plan, with the objective of guaranteeing the stability of the National Transmission System (STN) and responding in a timely manner to possible atmospheric phenomena.
Through a press release, the executive vice president of ETED, engineer Alfonso Rodríguez Tejada, highlighted that the company has reinforced its prevention, monitoring and response mechanisms to protect a key infrastructure for the development of the country.
“We are prepared to act quickly and efficiently in the event of any eventuality. Our commitment is to preserve the stability of the transmission system and contribute to national energy security throughout the hurricane season,” said Rodríguez Tejada.
As part of the plan, the ETED maintains permanent monitoring of the transmission network from the Energy Control Center (CCE) and has 26 work centers strategically distributed throughout the national territory, equipped with technical personnel, vehicles, tools and materials to respond to emergencies.
Prior to the start of the season, the company carried out preventive work that included maintenance in substations, specialized inspections on transmission lines, pruning trees in electrical rights-of-way, and the supply of strategic materials for a rapid response in case of damage.
The ETED urged the population to avoid construction and the planting of large trees near transmission lines, as well as to collaborate with technical brigades during emergency situations.
“With these actions, the ETED reaffirms its commitment to guarantee a safe, reliable and resilient transmission system in the face of the challenges of the 2026 cyclonic season,” states the statement sent to the media.
