MIRI (June 13): A female pedestrian was killed in a suspected hit-and-run along the Pan Borneo Highway in Niah.
Miri police chief ACP Mohd Farhan Lee Abdullah said preliminary investigations found that the 33-year-old victim was crossing the road when she was struck by an unidentified vehicle.
“The victim was pronounced dead at the scene at about 8.04am by a medical officer from the Batu Niah health clinic,” he said in a statement.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
Mohd Farhan appealed to anyone who may have witnessed the incident to contact traffic investigating officer Insp Mohd Faizal Moktar on 012-8186509 or 085-430479, or head to the nearest police station.
He reminded all motorists to practise safe driving and comply with all traffic regulations so as not to endanger other road users.
