The State Revenue Committee of the Republic of Armenia continuously implements large-scale measures to detect and prevent cases of illegal transportation of cash and goods across the air border of the Republic of Armenia within the framework of combating customs offenses and economic crimes.
The other day, an employee of the lost and found department of “Armenia International Airports” CJSC tried to take a paper package out of the airport territory, through a service checkpoint. Taking into account the fact that the said employee had a paper package, the employees of the aviation security service of the same company found out that in that paper bag there were 30 mobile phones marked “iPhone”, as well as 14 million Russian rubles in cash, and the latter was not allowed to leave the airport area, informing the officials of the Department of Electronic Commerce and Air Transport of the RA State Revenue Committee about this.
Customs officers of the “Zvartnots and Erebuni” Department of Passenger Customs Service and Control of the Department of Electronic Commerce and Transportation by Air Transport of the State Revenue Committee discovered mobile phones marked “iPhone” and millions of cash in the package of the employee of the lost and found department as a result of the customs control.
Regarding the incident, protocols were drawn up in accordance with Articles 307 and 313 of the RA “Customs Regulation” Law. The materials related to the incident were sent by the SRC customs body to the RA National Security Service in order to carry out the further actions provided by the law. Then, the mentioned structure transferred the materials to the General Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Armenia in order to resolve the issue of initiating criminal proceedings.
