Basseterre, St. Kitts, June 10, 2026 (PMO)
— The St. Kitts-Nevis Defence Force (SKNDF) officially unveiled its new combat uniform today during a ceremonial march through the streets of Basseterre, an event attended by Prime Minister and Minister of National Security, Hon. Dr. Terrance Drew.
In his address to soldiers, senior officers, and members of the public, Prime Minister Drew emphasized that the uniform represents far more than a mere change in appearance. He described it as a symbol of the Government’s commitment to the Defence Force and the Force’s enduring dedication to the people of St. Kitts and Nevis.
“Today you look sharp, sharper, and stronger, your uniform is designed for real work, the real work that you do on our land, in our waters, through whatever weather this region our nation faces,” the Prime Minister said.
Acknowledging that some may see the uniform as simply a new set of clothes, Prime Minister Drew underscored its deeper significance for those who wear it and for the nation they serve. “It is a commitment our Federation makes to you, and a commitment you make to your federation.”
The Prime Minister also commended members of the Defence Force for upholding the values of discipline, sacrifice, and patriotism, noting their consistent prioritization of service to country over personal interest.
He highlighted the broad range of responsibilities undertaken by the Defence Force, which include protecting national borders, supporting disaster response operations, assisting during national emergencies, and contributing to public safety and security.
Concluding his remarks, Prime Minister Drew called on citizens to honour and support the men and women of the Defence Force, whose service ensures the Federation’s peace, security, and democratic traditions.
