Within the framework of the Kingdom of Bahrain’s presidency of the forty-sixth session of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf, Sheikh Abdullah bin Rashid Al Khalifa, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the United States of America in Washington, hosted at his residence in Washington, DC, the third round table meeting, with the participation of the ambassadors of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, in the presence of the countries’ military attaches with a delegation from the US Department of War headed by Elbridge A. Colby, US Undersecretary of War for Policy Affairs, and representatives from the US State Department, within the framework of ongoing consultation and coordination on regional and international issues of common interest.
During the meeting, the participants stressed the importance of strengthening the strategic partnership and joint coordination in a way that contributes to supporting regional security and stability, confronting current challenges, and preserving the security of sea lanes and freedom of international navigation, which will reflect positively on economic stability and collective security in the region.
During the meeting, views were exchanged on a number of political and security files, including current regional developments, efforts to reduce escalation, and enhancing defense and security cooperation, in addition to discussing developments related to the situation in the region and ways to support stability and sustainable development.
The meeting also addressed the importance of continuing coordination and consultation between the participating parties, strengthening mechanisms for exchanging information and expertise, and developing aspects of joint cooperation in a way that achieves mutual interests and contributes to consolidating regional peace and security.
The participants stressed the importance of diplomatic solutions and constructive dialogue to address regional challenges, stressing the need to respect international law, protect the security and sovereignty of states, and support efforts aimed at achieving stability and prosperity for the peoples of the region.
At the conclusion of the meeting, all parties renewed their commitment to continuing close cooperation and coordination, and building on the positive results achieved during previous meetings, in a way that strengthens the existing partnership and supports regional and international security and stability.
