History expert in Radio Farhang: The Persian Gulf is a symbol of Iran’s historical authority and national identity

In an interview with Radio Farhang, Ali Tahraband, a history expert, emphasized the strategic position of the Persian Gulf in Iran’s history and said: This important waterway was not only the route of world trade, but also became a symbol of the return of national authority and the stabilization of Iran’s sovereignty during the Safavid period.

Ali Tahraband, a history expert, in Farhang Radio’s “Iran’s Homeland” program, referring to Iran’s historical position in the region, said: Throughout history, Iran has not only played a role as a geographical area, but also as a civilizational, political and communication area.

Stating that during the Safavid period, Iran’s political structure became more coherent, he added: Exactly, we formed a national government in Iran after 9 centuries after the fall of the Sassanids, and for this reason, the Safavid period should be considered a turning point in the formation of the national government in Iran.

Tahraband described the Persian Gulf as one of the most important economic and strategic waterways in the world and said: This region has historically been the communication route of Iran with East Africa, China, Malaysia and Indonesia, and ports such as Siraf, Kish, Qeshm and Hormuz have played an important role in the formation of Iran’s maritime trade network.

Referring to the presence of the Portuguese in the Persian Gulf at the beginning of the Safavid period, this history expert stated: With the planning of Shah Abbas and the role-playing of Imam Qali Khan, the Portuguese were expelled from Hormuz and other islands, and Iran’s authority was restored in this region.

With a quote from Albuquerque, he reminded: “Whoever has authority over the Persian Gulf has authority over the whole world”; A sentence that, according to him, shows the strategic importance of this region in the eyes of the world powers of that time.

Tahraband also emphasized Iran’s geopolitical position and said: Iran’s geography has always been known as the communication highway between East and West, and today one of the most optimal air and communication corridors in the region passes through Iran.

In another part of his speech, he emphasized the national capacities for progress and added: Our Iran is like a phoenix that always rises from the ashes, and the Iranian society can continue the path of reconstruction and development with empathy, synergy and synergy.

This history expert also considered education and health to be the two main pillars of progress and said: the relationship between university and industry should be strengthened and besides that, Iran’s tourism and cultural capacities can also be considered as one of the most important sources of income for the country.
