Experts called for ‘hang aluminum foil on the balcony all summer long’

Especially in city life, balconies, terraces and windows in front of houses often become frequent destinations for pigeons. However, the dirt they leave behind and the pollution they create can turn into a big headache for homeowners over time. While many people are trying expensive devices or chemical solutions to repel birds, a method featured in the Argentinian press and spreading rapidly on social media has broken all the rules. The secret of this environmentally friendly formula, which is completely zero cost and most importantly, never harms our lovely friends, is hidden in the aluminum foil in your kitchen.

THE SECRET IS COMPLETELY HIDDEN IN THE LIGHT

So, how can a simple rolled kitchen utensil drive away pigeons in a single move? The only reason why this method works miraculously is light reflections, which is a completely physical rule. Aluminum foil reflects the sunlight hitting it very strongly. As the wind blows and the angle of the sun changes during the day, these glows turn into sudden flashes that flash constantly on your balcony. The sensitive eye structure of pigeons is extremely disturbed by these sudden flashes of light and perceives this as a danger signal. Instead of approaching these bright areas where they don’t feel safe, they immediately change their route and look for quieter and darker spots.

THE EASIEST WAY TO APPLY TO BALCONIES AND WINDOWS

It only takes a few minutes to apply this practical and economical method at home. As the first method, you can cut thin strips of aluminum foil, approximately 20 to 30 centimeters long. It will be enough to tie these strips to your balcony railings, window sills or areas where birds constantly perch. The most important tip you should pay attention to here is to leave the bottom parts of the strips free; so they can easily wave in the wind and produce more reflections. You can make this protection permanent by replacing the strips that are torn or lose their shine due to rain or wind over time, with new ones.

THOSE WHO DO NOT WANT A LANE CAN USE A BALL

If you do not like the appearance of constantly waving strips on your balcony, there is a much more aesthetic alternative to this method. You can turn the pieces you have taken from the foil into small, round balls by squeezing them with your hands. You can place these silver balls that you prepared on the soil in the pots, on the marbles in front of the window or in hidden corners. Although not as intense as the swinging strips, the constant reflections emitted by these balls will be sufficient to largely prevent birds from approaching that area. With this method, which does not hurt animals and keeps your home clean, you can get rid of that big problem that overshadows your balcony enjoyment, completely free of charge.
