Polytechnic College, Mokpo University, Gateway Law Firm join forces to boost drone technology
The Polytechnic College in Vientiane has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Mokpo National University of the Republic of Korea and Gateway Law Firm Co., Ltd. to bolster technical cooperation and human resource development.
The signing ceremony, held on June 9, was presided over by the Director General of the Technical and Vocational Education Department of Laos’ Ministry of Education and Sports, Mr Vilayphone Phommahaxay.
Also in attendance were the Director of the Polytechnic College, Mr Soulivanh Khamphavong; the Director of Gateway Law Firm Co., Ltd., Mrs Chomchay Phommy; and Honorary Advisor to Mokpo National University, Dr Katoi Shin, alongside other representatives from the three bodies.
Mokpo National University, which specialises in drone technology, has previously conducted two in-person training sessions and two online courses for Polytechnic College students.

The university has also donated several small and medium-sized drones to support the college’s learning programmes.
This new agreement marks a significant milestone in strengthening international cooperation and friendship.
The MoU reflects a joint commitment to fostering technical collaboration, knowledge sharing, and the development of highly skilled human resources in the field of drone technology.
Under the framework of this partnership, Mokpo National University will provide technical training and essential drone equipment.
The three parties plan to establish a dedicated centre to serve as a training facility and an official examination centre for drone use certification.
Participants in the programme, including teachers and students, will be offered opportunities for both short-term and long-term practical training in the Republic of Korea. Furthermore, the centre will be open to members of the public interested in gaining drone proficiency.
The partnership aims to enhance local expertise and professional capabilities, while supporting the sustainable application of drone technology in Laos. The initiative is set to position the Polytechnic College as a leading, nationally recognised institution in drone technology.
