PARAMARIBO — A Cessna aircraft with registration number N56H landed at Zorg en Hoop airport on Monday evening with three people on board who probably entered Suriname without valid documents. The authorities immediately intervened and launched an extensive investigation.
The police from Flora station received a report of the landing around 6:50 PM and immediately went to the airport to investigate. Initial findings show that the aircraft flew from Trinidad to Suriname.
There were three men on board: a pilot of Cuban descent living in the United States, a Colombian and a Uruguayan. In the interest of the investigation, they were arrested on suspicion of violating the Aliens Act.
Research
After landing, the aircraft was secured and thoroughly searched by the authorities. The case has now been transferred to several specialized units, including the Judicial Intervention Team (JIT) and the Narcotics Brigade. They focus on the origin of the aircraft, the identity of those involved and possible criminal networks behind the flight.
The investigation is not only limited to possible human smuggling, but also includes other forms of illegal activities that could be linked to the flight. The plane was seized by the police.
Authorities have indicated that the investigation is still ongoing. Further details are expected at a later date.

According to data from the American aviation authority Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the aircraft in question is registered in Miami, Florida. The device is owned by Miami-based company Double D International LLC.
It concerns a 1977 Cessna 414, a twin-engine, fixed-wing aircraft with a seating capacity of seven. The aircraft falls under the airworthiness class ‘Standard/Normal’ and has serial number 414-0941.
