The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service has detained six people, including two municipal police officers, in connection with the killing of Anuska Eversley and the theft of firearms from a police compound in San Fernando.
Authorities said the suspects, two female civilians, two male civilians and the two officers, were held following a series of overnight, intelligence-led operations coordinated by multiple units, including the San Fernando Criminal Investigations Department, Special Branch and the Special Investigations Unit.
Police also said they have recovered a “substantial quantity” of the stolen arsenal, including 10 M&P pistols, 10 Glock 19 pistols, a Browning pistol, a Smith & Wesson pistol and 612 rounds of 9mm ammunition.
“Commissioner of Police, Allister Guevarro, led officers on the ground in the early hours of this morning as the investigation progressed and took a critical turn. Investigations remain ongoing and are at a sensitive stage. The TTPS assures the public that all efforts are being made to bring those responsible to justice,” the TTPS stated.
