The more than 10,000 projects financed by PNRR must be fully analyzed by the middle of the week, says the interim prime minister Ilia BolojanMonday, May 25. Following the analysis, it will be decided which projects will remain financed by grants, with a deadline of August 31, and which will be moved to the loan component “without affecting the progress of the works”.
Of the total number of projects financed by PNRR, over 5,000 are carried out by the Ministry of Development, over 2,500 by the Ministry of Education, over 1,500 by the Ministry of the Environment, the rest being the projects carried out by the other ministries.
“Yesterday afternoon I had a working video conference with the prefects. I asked them that, this morning, they should inform all the town halls about the need to transmit the data related to the projects financed from European funds through the PNRR program: the stage of the works, the deadline and the schedule of the works. At 9:00 a.m. meetings were organized in the counties. The Ministry of Development made available to the town halls a guide and an electronic platform for the collection of this data. By the middle of this week we must complete the analysis of the more than 10,000 projects financed through this program”, wrote Ilie Bolojan on Facebook.
He added that in parallel with the inventory of the work situation, the technical negotiations with the representatives of the European Commission regarding the latest changes to the financing program continue, announcing that they will be completed by the beginning of next week.
“We are clarifying which projects will remain funded by grants. They will be those that will be finished by the end of August; otherwise, we will lose the funding. For the projects that cannot be finished, we are analyzing the transfer to loan financing, without affecting the progress of the works”, explained Bolojan.
The Prime Minister emphasized that there is a need for a mobilization of the beneficiaries and the builders, a correct assessment of the situation on the ground, so that the projects at an advanced stage are completed on time, and Romania does not lose the available European funds.
“The PNRR program has a major impact on investments in Romania this year: over 10 billion euros. From highways and railways, to investments in transport, schools, HOSPITALS and blocks of flats, in localities all over the country. The negotiations with the European Commission also include the component of milestones and reforms that we undertook to implement, as well as the adjustment of the objectives to a realistic level”, Bolojan also mentioned.
