    Presidency

    Date: June 7, 2026

    Statement

In the name of God, the most gracious, the most merciful

“And do not think that those who were killed in the cause of God are dead; rather, they are alive with their Lord, being provided for, rejoicing in what God has given them of His bounty.” And they rejoice over those behind them who have not joined them, that there will be no fear for them, nor will they grieve. God Almighty has spoken the truth.

Today, June 7, 2026, the fighter Habib Mohamed Abdel Aziz, member of the National Secretariat and commander of the First Field Brigade, rose to the side of his Lord, who is forgiven, God willing, as a martyr on the battlefield, advancing unplanned, accompanied by two of his fellow fighters, so that they could all join the ranks of the martyrs of the Sahrawi people who fulfilled their pledge to God. Some of them died, some of them were waiting, and they did not change anything.

The martyr was born to Habib Muhammad Abdel Aziz in 1989, in the Al-Izza and Al-Karama camps, where he received his basic education and memorized the Book of God. He then continued his higher education in Algerian universities to obtain a bachelor’s degree in international relations.

The martyr joined the ranks of the Sahrawi People’s Liberation Army immediately after completing his postgraduate studies in November 2011, while he was still in the prime of his youth. He received several military trainings, most notably the Special Forces course in 2012 and the Command and Staff course 2017-2018.

The martyr rose through the ranks of military tasks and responsibilities, most notably platoon commander, battalion commander, director of the General Administration of the Ministry of National Defense, member of the Army General Staff, central director of training, then commander of the 1st Field Brigade since 2024. He was elected as a member of the National Secretariat of the Front at the Sixteenth Congress of the Front.

The martyr was known for his seriousness, responsibility, and discipline in his work, dedication, and sincerity in performing his tasks. He was characterized by gentle manners, humility, and simplicity in his dealings with his companions and subordinates.

The martyr is married and has two daughters and a son.

Following the martyrdom of the member of the National Secretariat of the Front, Commander of the First Field Brigade, Lahbib Mohamed Abdel Aziz, the Presidency of the Republic extends its deepest condolences and sincere expressions of sympathy to the entire Sahrawi people and to the members of the martyr’s family, relatives and companions, and declares national mourning for a period of three days, starting at eight o’clock in the evening today, June 7, 2026.

May God have mercy on the martyr, Habib Muhammad Abdel Aziz, along with all the martyrs of the Sahrawi people, and reward them on our behalf with the best reward. We will remain in their covenant and on their path, walking until the inevitable and certain victory. Glory and eternity are for the martyrs, and defeat, disgrace and disgrace are for the enemies.

Escalating the fighting to expel the occupation and complete sovereignty. (SPA)
