KUWAIT: The Ministry of Interior on Wednesday urged citizens and residents to avoid approaching or gathering near affected sites, stressing that public cooperation is essential to ensure safety and allow relevant authorities to carry out field operations efficiently. Speaking during a press briefing on the latest developments following the Iranian aggression against Kuwait, Director General of the General Department of Public Relations and Security Media and Ministry spokesperson Brigadier General Nasser Buslaib said the continued targeting of residential areas, civilian sites and vital facilities reflects a hostile approach aimed at destabilizing security and endangering lives and property.
He confirmed that Terminal 1 (T1) at Kuwait International Airport was hit in a serious escalation involving hostile drones earlier in the day, resulting in one fatality, several injuries among passengers and staff, and significant damage to parts of the airport’s facilities and operational infrastructure. Buslaib said sirens had been activated five times over the past few hours, bringing the total number of activations to 188. He added that explosive ordnance disposal teams had responded to 36 reports of fallen debris and objects linked to defensive interception operations, bringing the total number of such reports handled since the beginning of the escalation to 975.
During the briefing, he presented a visual demonstration outlining how reports of debris and unidentified objects are received and handled by specialized teams. He urged the public not to touch or approach any unidentified objects or remnants resulting from interception operations, warning that they may pose serious risks. He also called on citizens and residents to immediately report any such incidents via the emergency hotline (112) so that specialized teams can take the necessary measures.

Brigadier General Buslaib prayed for the safety of Kuwait and its people under the leadership of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, and His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, wishing continued security and stability for the country.
In a separate statement, the Ministry of Defense spokesperson Colonel Saud Al-Atwan said Kuwaiti armed forces detected and engaged 13 hostile ballistic missiles early Wednesday morning within Kuwaiti airspace, intercepting them over several residential areas. He noted that debris from the interceptions had fallen in some locations. Al-Atwan confirmed that the armed forces also detected and engaged 17 hostile drones, adding that the attacks targeted civilian and vital infrastructure, including Kuwait International Airport. He said the incident resulted in the death of an Indian resident and injuries to several others, in addition to material damage.
He expressed condolences to the family of the deceased and wished a speedy recovery for the injured, stressing the importance of refraining from approaching, photographing or sharing images or videos of affected sites or debris on social media. He urged the public to follow official instructions and rely on approved sources for information, affirming that the armed forces remain fully prepared and continue to coordinate with relevant authorities to safeguard the security of the country and the safety of residents.
The Kuwait Fire Force also confirmed on Wednesday that it responded to nine incidents involving fallen debris over the past 24 hours. Fire Force spokesperson Brigadier General Mohammad Al-Ghareeb said the reports included four fires caused by falling debris and five cases of site securing in coordination with relevant authorities. He reiterated the importance of not handling any fires or objects suspected to be caused by falling debris, urging the public to immediately contact emergency services via 112. He also called on citizens and residents to avoid approaching or interfering with affected areas, leaving all response operations to specialized teams to ensure public safety. — KUNA
