    Ministers discuss strengthening sports programs for students


    KUWAIT: Minister of Education Jalal Al-Tabtabaei met on Wednesday with Minister of State for Youth and Sports Affairs Dr Tareq Al-Jalahma to discuss ways of strengthening strategic cooperation between the two ministries in support of youth and sports development initiatives. According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Education, the meeting focused on enhancing coordination and cooperation in areas of mutual interest, particularly in developing sports programs and activities within educational institutions and expanding opportunities for students to participate in organized sporting initiatives.

    The two ministers reviewed mechanisms to strengthen the role of sports in developing students’ capabilities and refining their skills, in line with national objectives aimed at nurturing a generation that is physically and mentally healthy, creative and capable of contributing effectively to the country’s development. Discussions also centered on ways to invest in youth’s potential by identifying and nurturing sporting talent through integrated efforts between the education and sports sectors. The two sides emphasized the importance of providing a supportive educational and athletic environment that encourages innovation, excellence and personal development.

    The meeting highlighted the role of sports in promoting discipline, teamwork and positive competition among students, while contributing to the development of leadership skills and a culture of achievement. The statement noted that both ministries are committed to expanding cooperation on initiatives that support youth development and encourage broader participation in sports activities across schools and educational institutions.

    The meeting was attended by Assistant Undersecretary for Educational Affairs Hamad Al-Hamad, Director General of Educational Districts Mohammed Al-Wazzan, Director General of Educational Support Services Mariam Al-Anzi, and Director General of Technical Guidance, Research and Curricula Mohammed Al-Otaibi. Representing the Ministry of State for Youth and Sports Affairs was Advisor Dr Suad Al-Faqaan. The discussions reflected the shared commitment of both ministries to developing integrated programs that enhance students’ educational and athletic experiences while contributing to the long-term development of Kuwait’s youth and sports sectors. — KUNA
