A woman of nationality colombian was caught by the authorities in the Las Americas International Airport (AILA-JFPG), when he arrived in the country with a suitcase full of clothing impregnated with cocaine.
“Inside the luggage, a total of 49 polo shirts, t-shirts, flannels and pants were seized, which, when analyzed through a field test, turned out to be positive for controlled substances,” states a statement from the National Drug Control Directorate (DNCD).
After the discovery, the items of clothing were sent to the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (Inacif) to continue the corresponding investigation.
According to the institution’s statement, the operational units of the DNCD, supported by members of the Specialized Airport Security Corps (CESAC) and Customs inspectors (DGA), were carrying out joint inspection tasks, when they observed, through X-ray machines, suspicious images inside the foreigner’s luggage.
“The suitcase was opened, containing a total of 49 items of clothing, all soaked with the alleged drug, another form of international drug trafficking to try to circumvent security controls in the country’s terminals,” frames the DNCD statement.
About the detainee
The 26-year-old detainee will be brought to justice in the next few hours for violation of Law 50-88, on drugs and controlled substances, while the Public Ministry and the DNCD They carry out local investigations to determine if there are others involved in the case, to arrest them and bring them to justice.
