Doha – Al Raya:
The Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs, represented by the Department of Mosques, opened a new mosque in the Ain Khaled area, which includes an Eid prayer hall and an integrated center for teaching the Holy Quran consisting of two floors, in addition to an imam’s house and a residence for the muezzin, on a large total area of about (25,000) square meters, so that the mosque, with its various facilities, constitutes an integrated religious and educational landmark that serves the people of the region and contributes to strengthening the message of Faith, educational and community mosques.
The opening of the new mosque, which was halted by the General Administration of Endowments with the support of charitable donors – may God reward them – comes within the efforts of the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs aimed at expanding the establishment and development of mosques in various regions of the country, to keep pace with urban growth and population increase, and in line with the Qatar National Vision 2030, which aims to promote community development and preserve Islamic identity and authentic values.
The Ministry affirmed that building and caring for mosques is one of the greatest doors of charity and ongoing charity whose impact and reward extends, because of the pivotal role it represents in performing rituals, teaching the Holy Qur’an, and instilling faith and educational values in society, asking God Almighty to accept this blessed endowment and place it in the balance of the good deeds of donors and benefactors.
A mosque with integrated facilities
The mosque bears the number (M.S. 1404), and includes a main prayer hall that can accommodate (1,330) male worshipers, in addition to a women’s prayer hall that can accommodate (135) worshipers, bringing the total capacity of the mosque to (1,465) male and female worshipers.
The mosque also includes a spacious ablution and integrated service facilities, in addition to a large number of parking lots, a number of which have been designated to serve people with disabilities, with entrances and exits organized to achieve ease of access and flow, while the mosque is topped with a high minaret that adds an aesthetic and architectural dimension.
An integrated center for teaching the Holy Quran
The Holy Qur’an Learning Center attached to the mosque is a purposeful and constructive educational and pedagogical facility, as it was designed to be an integrated educational environment that contributes to serving the people of the region and enhancing their connection with the Book of God Almighty for memorization, recitation and contemplation.
The center consists of two floors, and includes (10) classrooms equipped to receive students of various age groups, in addition to a multi-use hall in which educational, cultural and pedagogical programs and activities are held, in addition to a scientific library that contributes to supporting the cognitive and legal aspects of the center’s students and patrons.
The center also includes (13) administrative, technical and supervisory offices, a number of support service rooms, in addition to a number of restrooms, and a spacious courtyard that provides a suitable environment for accompanying activities and events.
The Qur’anic Center represents a qualitative addition to the people of the Ain Khaled area, as it will contribute to teaching and memorizing the Holy Qur’an to youth and youth, and organizing educational programs, in a way that enhances Islamic values and religious identity in the hearts of children, and creates a safe and effective educational environment that serves the various segments of society.
The center is expected to play an important role in revitalizing the Qur’anic and scientific movement in the region, by attracting students and those interested in memorizing the Holy Qur’an and its sciences, and implementing various educational and cultural programs that contribute to building a generation linked to the Book of God Almighty and its tolerant values.
A spacious Eid prayer hall to serve the people of the region
The project also includes a large Eid prayer hall built on an area of (3,000) square metres, to accommodate more than (4,000) male and female worshippers, with (3,680) male and (375) female worshipers, in order to meet the needs of the people of the region during the Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha prayers.
The establishment of the Eid prayer hall comes within the Ministry’s vision to provide integrated religious facilities within residential neighborhoods, making it easier for residents to perform rituals in an organized and comfortable religious atmosphere, especially in light of the urban expansion and population growth witnessed in the region.
Continuous efforts to develop the houses of God
The Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs, represented by the Engineering Affairs Department, continues to implement its plans aimed at providing the needs of various regions of the country for mosques and prayer halls, and supervising construction, maintenance and development projects, in a way that achieves the highest technical and engineering standards.
The administration is also responsible for preparing the annual plan for the maintenance of mosques and imams’ residences, in coordination with the competent authorities, supervising the preparation and implementation of construction and maintenance works for mosques, supervising the construction projects of mosques and imams’ residences owned by the endowment in terms of designs, technical and engineering specifications and implementation, and preparing a database on mosques, prayer halls and the workers in them.
