This Monday morning, the Ministry of Municipality opened Al Nafal Park, one of Al Furjan parks in Al Thumama area, which was implemented by the Public Works Authority, as part of the state’s efforts aimed at expanding the establishment of public parks, increasing the green area, and providing integrated recreational and sports facilities that serve residents of residential areas, and contribute to enhancing the quality of life and sustainability.
The opening was attended by Engineer Abdullah Ahmed Al-Karani, Assistant Undersecretary for Public Services Affairs, and a number of department directors and officials from the Ministry of Municipality and the Public Works Authority “Ashghal”.
The total area of the garden is about 4,493 square metres, while the green spaces and landscaping extend over an area of 2,440 square metres, and includes 52 trees, which enhances the natural shadows and adds an aesthetic and sustainable environment to the area.
The park also contains pedestrian walkways with an area of 965 square meters, in addition to a 172-meter running track, providing a suitable and safe environment for practicing walking and running.
On the entertainment side, the park includes a children’s play area with an area of 360 square metres, in addition to an outdoor fitness area with an area of 44 square metres, equipped to support and encourage healthy lifestyles and physical activity.
The design of the park took into account the provision of the necessary service facilities, as it includes two toilets, in addition to 20 benches distributed throughout the park for the comfort of visitors.
His Excellency Engineer Abdullah Ahmed Al-Karani, Assistant Undersecretary for Public Services Affairs, confirmed that the opening of Furjan Al-Nafal Park comes within the strategy of the Ministry of Municipality, which aims to expand the establishment of parks, increase afforestation works, and spread green spaces in various regions of the country, in keeping with the urban and developmental renaissance witnessed by the country.
He pointed out that the Ministry pays great attention to developing parks and public facilities in accordance with the highest environmental and service standards, which contributes to enhancing sustainability, improving the quality of life, and providing integrated recreational and sports outlets for the population, in line with the Ministry’s objectives and the sustainable development strategy in the State of Qatar.

He added that the Ministry is continuing to implement gardens, beautification and afforestation projects, in a way that enhances the urban landscape, raises the level of services provided to citizens and residents, and encourages community members to practice sports and recreational activities in a safe and healthy environment.
