KUCHING (April 16): Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad has approved a total allocation of RM2.43 million to strengthen the healthcare ecosystem at Sarawak General Hospital (SGH).
He announced this on Facebook following an official working visit to SGH’s Clinical Research Centre (CRC), accompanied by Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian.
He said the allocation includes RM930,000 to upgrade infrastructure at the CRC to accommodate its increasing workload in clinical trials, in line with its recognition as a leading oncology research centre.
The remaining RM1.5 million fulfils a commitment made during his “pleasant surprise visit” in September last year, which includes the procurement of a high-end ultrasound system for the Maternal-Fetal Medicine Unit, following the hospital’s historic success in performing prenatal spina bifida surgery.
Dr Dzulkefly described the allocation as a reflection of the Madani government’s commitment to translating public aspirations into tangible action.
“The improvement of facilities and technology is a strategic step to ensure quality healthcare for the people of Sarawak, while strengthening Malaysia’s clinical research standing globally,” he said.
He added that the Ministry of Health will continue to ensure allocated funds deliver meaningful impact to the healthcare ecosystem and benefit the people without discrimination.
