Basseterre, St. Kitts and Nevis (April 12, 2026) – The Federation today extends warm birthday wishes to National Hero and former Prime Minister, Dr. the Right Honourable Sir Kennedy A. Simmonds, as he celebrates his 90th birthday.
Born on April 12, 1936, Sir Kennedy Simmonds served as Premier from 1980 to 1983 before becoming the first Prime Minister of an independent St. Kitts and Nevis, holding office from 1983 to 1995. His leadership is widely recognised for guiding the nation through independence and shaping its early years of statehood.
In 2015, he was named a National Hero, the Federation’s highest honour, in recognition of his historic contributions to nation-building and public service.
As the country marks this milestone, his legacy stands as a defining pillar of the nation’s history, reflecting a lifetime of visionary leadership, dedicated service, and enduring national impact.
