He National Congress The impeachment trial against the councilor of the National Electoral Council (CNE), Marlon Ochoa, for allegedly paralyzing the operation of the electoral body, hindering the schedule of the 2025 general elections, among other allegations.
As part of the process, the special commission that will carry out the process against the commissioner and other officials summoned the CNE advisors, Cossette López and Ana Paola Hallwho must give a statement about the facts surrounding the internal crisis of the organization.
The president of the special commission, deputy Tania Pinto, confirmed to The Press that the counselors will be summoned this Tuesday to give their statements.
“In effect, they will be summoned to appear to give a statement. We will have to allow non-working days and hours to summon them for Tuesday,” the company announced. parliamentary
The participation of both officials is key, since they are part of the plenary session of the CNE and they have been in the middle of the internal disagreements that have marked the organization’s management in recent months.
The statements of the counselors will allow us to know how decisions were made within the Council, as well as the conflicts that arose between its members and that today lead to the political trial against Ochoa.
In addition to López and Hall, Roberto Lara and Mario Flores Urrutia were also summoned, who must appear to provide information about the internal functioning of the organization, the deputy indicated.
“There are also other people who express their intention to collaborate with their statement,” said Deputy Pinto.
The impeachment trial against Ochoa is taking place due to allegations of poor performance in office, related to alleged actions that would have affected the functioning of the CNE and the progress of the electoral process.
This Monday the commission will also hold the hearing against Mario Alexis Morazán Aguilera, the magistrate who owns the Electoral Justice Court (ETJ); Lourdes Maribel Mejía Estape and Gabriel Guitierrez Peralta, both substitute magistrates of the TJE.
The accused were summoned at different times to appear to testify and present their evidence in defense, guaranteeing them the full exercise of their constitutional right.
