A 79-year-old pensioner was assaulted and robbed during a home invasion at Pepper Village, Gran Couva, on Tuesday evening.
Police said Lawrence Rampersad was at home with his 79-year-old bedridden wife, Sumatie, around 6pm when he heard footsteps coming from the eastern side of the house.
As Rampersad turned around, he was struck to the back of his head and fell to the ground. He was struck twice more, to his right ear and right arm.
Rampersad told police he looked up and saw two men dressed in dark clothing and wearing masks covering their faces.
The men reportedly demanded jewellery. Rampersad told them he had none, after which they left through the same point they entered.
The suspects were both described as slim-built men, approximately six feet tall, dressed in dark clothing and wearing masks.
Police are continuing investigations.
