YouTube has implemented a new function to improve live interaction on the platform, with which it will automatically identify when user interaction on the platform chat is at “its peak” and will disable ads to avoid interrupting the dynamism.
The content platform in ‘streaming‘has shared a series of new features designed to improve the experience and interaction of users with content creators during live broadcasts, YouTube Live, so that connection between a community in real time is encouraged.
To do this, YouTube has added a function with which, when high participation by users in the live chat is identified, ads will automatically be deactivated for all viewers.
This function was created with the objective of protecting the “collective energy” that is generated through the chat between user comments and the content creator, since by avoiding ads, it is possible to maintain the dynamism of the entire community without advertising interruptions.
This was shared by the company in a statement on its blog, where it has detailed that this function is only available if automatic ads are activated in the channel, and that it will work when its monitoring system recognizes a significant peak of interaction in the live chat.
This novelty eliminates one of the features that has most promoted and protected the platformsuch as 30-second ads that cannot be skipped, fighting against the use of ad blockers and offering an ad-free experience exclusively to those users subscribed to the Premium version of YouTube. Although it will only stop ads for, for example, important ad moments in the live stream.
Additionally, fans who support creators during the live will also be rewarded with ad-free windows, either with a Super Chat (the function that allows you to pay to highlight your messages in the chat), Super Stickers or gifts. This ad-free window will be created automatically right after purchase to avoid interrupting the moment.
Continuing with the news to improve interaction, the company has also announced that it is making it easier for viewers to send virtual gifts to content creators during horizontal, as well as vertical, live broadcasts, directly from their smartphones. Currently available in Canada, Korea, Indonesia, Thailand, Australia and New Zealand.
Finally, YouTube has also added a function that will allow you to broadcast live both vertically and horizontally simultaneously, with all participants connected in a single shared chat.
Thus, the company has announced that, in the coming months, they will incorporate more customization tools, such as vertical cutout in Live Studio and multiple streaming keys. YouTube will disable ads during live streams when chat engagement is at its peak.
