Struga – Azis Pollozhani has published an extensive analysis on the situation in North Macedonia and especially in Struga, where he raises the alarm about institutional degradation, environmental pollution and lack of responsibility.
According to him, the tragedies that have struck the country over the years, such as Koçani, the Modular Hospital in Tetovo, tragic accidents and recently the poisoning of water in Gostivar, are not isolated cases, but the result of weak institutions and lack of responsibility.
Stopping at Struga, Pollozhani says that the city is facing the pollution of Lake Ohrid, the degradation of the Black Drin, unplanned constructions and the risk of losing its UNESCO status.
He warns that, unless immediate reforms are undertaken, Struga risks losing its identity, being emptied of young people and ultimately damaging the natural assets that make it world famous.
Among the measures he proposes are the reconstruction of the collector, the return of the Sateska river to its natural bed, the elimination of illegal waste water discharges and the establishment of a moratorium on constructions without an urban plan.
In the end, Pollozhani calls for Struga not to remain hostage to political accusations, but to start a new chapter where law, science and responsibility are placed over narrow interests.
“A sick coast and a polluted river leave no room for tourism, for well-being, or for the future. Strugans will not allow to disappear what their parents left for generations.”
