Jaden Carasquero of Crystal Stream Government recorded the highest score of the day to help West B emerge as the top zone in the Rotary Club of Port-of-Spain (RCPOS) District Games for Primary Schools in Port-of-Spain and Environs, yesterday.
Carasquero produced 15 points to be named the Victor Ludorum of the Under-15 category in the 34th edition of the District Games, which unfolded at the Hasely Crawford Stadium in Mucurapo.
His contribution, along with schoolmate Amirah Greene, who shared the U-11 Victrix Ludorum title with Neriah Alexander of St Catherine’s (Central A) and Demeshia Sandy (St Dominic’s, East A) after each scored eight points, and that of La Puerta Government’s Raheim Williams, who was the U-9 Victor Ludorum alongside Raheim Mark (St Dominic’s, East A) with ten points each, helped West B tally a winning 170 points.
In a distant second was West A with 117 points. The Victor Ludorum in the U-13 category, Kaseem DaVerney of Maraval RC, matched Carasquero’s 15 points to help his zone finish as the runner-up.
In third place was Central A with 105. The leading athletes of the zone were Zamora Sherry of Sacred Hearts Girls with ten and Alexander of St Catherine’s with eight.
Earlier, the action started with the traditional march past. The best team on parade was Mucurapo Boys RC with 270 points, finishing ahead of Sacred Heart Girls RC (261) and La Puerta Government (255), respectively.
