A 39-year-old man was shot and killed on Saturday night outside his home at Emon Lane, Valencia.
The deceased has been identified as Keshawn Guy, also known as Abdul Aleem, of Emon Lane, Valencia, and Pinto Road, Arima.
According to police reports, around 8:40 p.m. Guy was arriving at his home accompanied by a relative when the relative observed a man dressed in dark clothing emerge from behind a white tank nearby. The relative reportedly heard several loud explosions and saw Guy run off as the suspect gave chase.
Further gunshots were heard shortly after, before the suspect fled the area via a forested track. Moments later, Guy was discovered lying motionless on the roadway with multiple gunshot wounds to the head.
He was dressed in a white Muslim garment and blue three-quarter pants. Officers responding to the scene observed several spent shell casings in the vicinity of the body.
The District Medical Officer later pronounced him dead. His body was removed under police escort and taken to the mortuary pending a post-mortem examination.
Guy’s killing comes amid a recent spike in violent incidents along Emon Lane, Valencia, following two earlier attacks in the area within the past week.
On Tuesday night, April 21, 52-year-old Dexter Ferreira, an employee of the Arima Borough Corporation, was shot after stopping at a shop along Emon Lane. Around 10 p.m., residents reported hearing a series of explosions. Ferreira was later found with gunshot wounds and taken to the Sangre Grande Hospital, where he died shortly after 10:15 p.m.
Less than 24 hours before Ferreira’s killing, gunmen targeted a home in the same community, killing 49-year-old Shaun Charles and injuring his common-law wife. Police said that attack occurred shortly after 3:30 a.m. on April 20 while the occupants were asleep. Multiple shots were fired into the home, and several spent 9mm casings were recovered.
