(VIDEO) Fascinating scene in the Gulf of Trieste: the sea occupied by huge jellyfish
In Trieste, on Friday, a large number of large jellyfish were observed in the sea just below the surface.
The phenomenon that they have on their Instagram profile @in_trieste characterized as a spectacle, it attracted the attention of many passers-by, who photographed and filmed the jellyfish.
A species that is not dangerous to humans
They are jellyfish of the sea hat species (Rhizostoma pulmo), which are considered one of the largest species of jellyfish in the Mediterranean Sea. They can reach considerable dimensions, with their hat sometimes measuring up to 90 centimeters in diameter, although their average size is around 60 centimeters. Despite their power and large numbers, these jellyfish are not dangerous for humans. Experts explain that contact with their stingers only in extremely rare cases causes discomfort, but otherwise they do not pose a threat to swimmers.

During this period, these animals have ideal conditions, as the sea is warmer, there is more sunlight, and above all, the concentration of plankton, which is their main source of food, increases.
