Two police officers were involved in a traffic accident in Asunción after falling from their motorcycle on Thursday afternoon. One of them lost his life and the other remains hospitalized at the Rigoberto Caballero Hospital.
Around 7:00 p.m. this Thursday, a police died and another was seriously injured after a traffic accident in the Santa María de Asunción neighborhood.
The injured uniformed officer was identified as Esteban Ramón Peralta Martínez (21), who was driving the vehicle and suffered serious injuries. After an inspection, he was transferred to the Rigoberto Caballero Police Hospital where he would remain hospitalized.
The deceased non-commissioned officer was Marcelo Iván Benítez Balbuena (24) and the cause of death was reported a craniocerebral trauma.
Overtaking accident
Both were in service in a police motorcycle KTM Adventure and according to witnesses, when trying to overtake a bus that was circulating on Mariscal López Street, the driver lost control at a high speed and both fell to the asphalt.
