PARAMARIBO — Venezuelan interim President Delcy Rodríguez will make an official visit to Suriname on Friday at the invitation of counterpart Jennifer Geerlings-Simons. The Communications Service Suriname (CDS) reported in a press release on Thursday (today) that the two heads of state will hold consultations on further strengthening cooperation in the areas of agriculture, fisheries, hydrocarbon, connectivity, tourism, education and capacity strengthening.
The Presidents will also exchange views on the promotion of common interests within regional and multilateral fora. The CDS states that the visit underlines the joint commitment of Suriname and Venezuela to further deepen and sustainably anchor relations.
Suriname and Venezuela have had diplomatic relations for fifty years. This special anniversary offers an appropriate moment to confirm the close ties between the two countries, further deepen existing cooperation and open new perspectives for a future-oriented, sustainable and mutually beneficial cooperation, the CDS said.
In addition, opportunities will be explored to further expand economic and technical cooperation for the development and well-being of both countries and their peoples. “The agreements made during this visit will provide guidance for a sustainable and results-oriented collaboration that contributes to the development, resilience and prosperity of both countries and their communities.”
