The signing of the framework agreement between Lebanon and Israel, under the auspices and mediation of the United States of America at the US State Department in Washington, constituted a historical development that was the first of its kind in terms of its significance since the conclusion of the May 17, 1983 agreement during the era of former President Amin Gemayel. In this context, positions were issued welcoming the agreement.
The Amal Movement’s political bureau issued a statement expressing its rejection of the content of the agreement signed between Israel and Lebanon, and considered that the agreement was unbalanced and enshrined facts in favor of Israel at the expense of the national interest.
In turn, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu praised the agreement reached under American auspices, describing it as a “historic” achievement that dealt a blow to Iran and Hezbollah.
While Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper revealed that Israel is preparing for a possible escalation of the situation in the north following the agreement with Lebanon, the Israeli army is preparing to begin withdrawing from the experimental areas in southern Lebanon as of this morning, according to the Israeli Broadcasting Authority Kan.
In light of the calls for protest movements in Beirut and other regions, the Lebanese Army leadership issued a statement stressing the necessity of maintaining stability and civil peace.
