Valdimar Gunnarsson, physical education teacher from Bíldudal and Allir med project manager, finished his week on the last day of work and was greeted with pomp and show at the Sports Center yesterday.
UMFÍ’s announcement states that Thelma Dögg Grétarsdóttir, sports representative at the Sports Federation of the Disabled, will take over his role.
On the occasion of the day, the halls of the Sports Center on Engjaveg were turned into a playground in the spirit of the Star Games, which Valdimar has taken care of during his trips around the country for the last 3 years with the aim of introducing sports to young athletes with various challenges and their guardians.
A long and good career
Over the years, Valdimar has attended all kinds of sporting events and activities in the country. Among other things, he managed the UMFÍ youth national tournament in Vesturbyggð 20 years ago, was the manager of UMSK for many years, and the last three years project manager Allir med.
However, Valdimar says that he is not leaving the sports movement at all. He will manage events at the UMFÍ national youth championship this summer and ensure that the Allir med marketing campaign is launched.
